Crieff is a small town in Strathearn, Perth and Kinross - a region world famous for its spectacular scenery, outdoor recreation, quality local produce - and its friendliness! During your time with us, we have loads of great ideas to share our wonderful region with you.

Choose from a range of outdoor activities for your free time on a Wednesday and Sunday afternoon : It is all included in your course fee, so choose something you love, or try something new - it is up to you!

WALKING/HIKING

Crieff, perched high on its hill, overlooks gorgeous landscape rich in nature and history - and there are trails and footpaths for every level of walker to explore. 

SURVIVAL CRAFT

Have an afternoon with Do it Outdoors and Learn Fly Fishing, Archery or Wild Survival Bushcraft – just 8 miles from Crieff.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Enjoy an afternoon of thrilling down-hilling with the amazing Comrie Croft - or a walk and a meal at their fantastic Tea Garden. 

GOLF

Want to try one of Scotland’s top rated inland courses? Why not have an afternoon at  Crieff Golf Club.

TOUR CAMP 22

Not just one of the best preserved WW2 prisoner of war camps in the UK, Cultybraggan  also has a fascinating contemporary social history: Discover how Community Ownership Trust have transformed it into a melting pot of micro-businesses and eco-businesses.

MEET ARTISTS

Enjoy a guided tour of the town’s art life, including the eclectic hub Strathearn Arts - and visit numerous commercial galleries and artist studios across the Strathearn area. We could be invited into the studios of photographers, painters and printmakers to discover their working processes.

AN AFTERNOON AT INNERPEFFREY LIBRARY

Including a personal guide to Scotland's first lending library and its historic books.

GLENTURRET WHISKY DISTILLERY

We'll visit the local Glenturret Distillery for an award winning tour, taking you through the traditional art of whisky making - and discover the story of one of Scotland’s largest and best loved exports.

FEED DEER AT CLATHIC FARM

Join us to visit Clathic Farm, see the deer being fed and hear from the farm owners themselves about the production of the venison they rear and sell through the butcher counter of their shop, The Crieff Food Co.

AN AFTERNOON AT DRUMMOND CASTLE GARDENS

A tour of this fabulous formal ancestral garden – rated one of the best in Europe. If it looks familiar it has been filmed many times - most recently for the popular series Outlander.

MEET PRODUCERS

The Strathearn region boasts fantastic fresh produce from its orchards, fruit farms, organic farms, fish, venison cattle and dairy farms and there’s a wealth of small agri-business producers celebrating their produce.

Join us for a tasting tour of Strathearn and meet the people behind the labels.

BREADMAKING WORKSHOP WITH IAIN CAMPBELL

Campbell’s Bakery have invited Blue Noun English language learners to take their breadmaking workshop: putting English into practice in a very fun and tasty way! 

 

Iain Campbell is  winner of British Confectioner’s Association Cup (2012)  and an entertaining and excellent  teacher. 

WINE TOUR AND TASTING

Visit the Scottish Winery, Cairn O’Mohr for a guided tour of their production processes - including sampling their superb wines! 

Additionally, weekly guest speakers from local food, arts or craft industries will visit Blue Noun to present their products, tell the history of their company, and make demonstrations and/or lead workshops.  

Learn New Skills

Throughout your stay, Blue Noun will host a skills afternoon, when you can learn new skills in craft workshops. Examples include bread making, mono-printing and watercolour painting.

CURRY NIGHT!

Our favorite! While enjoying our local Scottish culture, let’s celebrate that we are also a nation shaped by other cultures  - and in the tastiest of ways! The Indian / Nepelese  local restaurant The Gurkas is fantastic!

GRANOLA BREAKFAST

Blue Noun have invited  Erika Green, of delicious Green’s Granola to host a weekly Granola Breakfast with our learners.

Erika is a Strathearn-based producer of granola, flapjacks and home baking.

She also has several years experience of teaching English as a foreign language, and we are delighted to offer her a guest slot on our General Professional course.

DINE OUT

For those not choosing off our outdoor adventure list – let us treat you to dinner in a local bar restaurant. 

WHISKY TASTING

In edition, you are invited to take part in weekly whisky tastings at Blue Noun - and be guided through a selection (of well-researched favourites) from our local (amazing!) whisky shop J.L. Gill.
